Cookies and similar technologies
Short version: this website sets no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking of any kind. That is why you have not been shown a consent banner.
As at the version date below, www.biotekk.com sets no first-party cookies, uses no analytics or advertising services, and stores nothing in your browser's local or session storage. If that changes, this page will be updated and — where the law requires consent — you will be asked before any non-essential technology is used.
1. What cookies and similar technologies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixels and device fingerprinting. They can be used for things that are strictly necessary — keeping you signed in, for example — or for things that are not, such as analytics, profiling and advertising.
Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, non-essential technologies require your consent. Strictly necessary ones do not, but you should still be told about them.
2. What this website uses
- No analytics. We do not use Google Analytics or any comparable product on this site, so there is nothing measuring your behaviour across pages.
- No advertising or remarketing. No advertising pixels, conversion tags or social-media trackers are embedded.
- No first-party cookies. The site is static and does not require a session or preference cookie to function.
- No local or session storage. Site behaviour — the accordions, scroll animations, animated statistics and mobile menu — runs entirely in memory and stores nothing.
Because there is no non-essential technology to consent to, we do not show a cookie banner. We consider a banner that asks for consent it does not need to be worse than no banner at all.
3. Third-party requests the site does make
Cookies are not the only way information leaves your browser. For transparency, this site makes the following third-party requests:
- Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com) — the site loads the Space Grotesk and Space Mono typefaces. This request does not set cookies, but it does disclose your IP address and user agent to Google as the font is delivered. We are evaluating self-hosting the fonts to remove this request entirely.
- Netlify — our hosting and form-handling provider. Its servers process the technical information inherent in any web request, such as IP address, request path and timestamp, for delivery, security and abuse prevention. Netlify may set a cookie if a platform feature that requires one is enabled; no such feature is currently in use on this site.
Links to external organisations — health services, support lines, regulators — are ordinary links. Nothing is loaded from those sites into these pages, and we are not responsible for the cookie practices of a site you choose to visit.
4. Forms and spam control
The enquiry, investor and briefing forms submit directly to our hosting provider's form handling. Spam is filtered using a hidden honeypot field and server-side checks rather than a third-party CAPTCHA, so no additional tracking technology is loaded in order to protect the forms. What we do with the information you submit is described in the privacy notice.
5. If this changes
If we later introduce privacy-respecting analytics or any other non-essential technology, we will update this page, state clearly what is used and why, and obtain consent where consent is required before it is set. We will not adopt cross-site tracking or advertising technology on a mental-health website.
6. Controlling cookies in your browser
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, and most browsers also offer a setting to block third-party requests or to use a privacy-preserving mode. Doing so will not affect this website, because it does not rely on cookies. Guidance for each major browser is published by its vendor, and the Information Commissioner's Office provides general advice at ico.org.uk.
7. The BioTekk platform
The platform is a separate product from this website. When it becomes available, it will require authentication and will therefore need strictly necessary cookies or equivalent tokens to maintain a secure session. Those will be documented in the platform's own cookie and privacy information, and the same principle will apply: strictly necessary technologies only, unless you have consented to more.
